Saturday White Star Quarry Diving

Today was a big day for me. It was one year ago today that I had my hernia surgery. I celebrated by making three dives today on a gorgeous sunny hot day and had fun and a great time. Matt was my dive buddy and we had three enjoyable dives.

This is a former limestone quarry and here is the "crusher" which turned big ones into little ones.

This was neat. It was a pvc pipe scuba diver. You can put air from your regulator in his tank and it will come out through his regulator.

White Star Strange Underwater Cemetery

I had been diving for years have seen many spectacular and extraordinary sights. This was probably the strangest. We came up on an underwater cemetery. I did not know what was going on, so my initial reaction was one of reverence for the graves as I did not know if people were actually buried there. Turns out, there is no one buried there. These are flawed grave stones that were rejected, donated, and put in several months ago.

This was the most unusual one. There is a Harley Davidson Motorcycle at the bottom and a Cadillac logo in the center. The mistake was, the Harley logo was supposed to be in the middle.

White Star Friday Night

As it was a cold and wet summer, I am trying to get in as much diving as I can, so I went to White Star Quarry in Gibsonburg on Friday evening.


I met up with Tim, Kim, and Alex and we had an enjoyable dive.

Saturday, we got up early to catch the ferry to Put In Bay.
We went past Cedar Point Amazement ParkWhen you arrive, you rent a golf cart for transportation. Top speed was, maybe, 15 mph. I was flooring it most of the day. There are car and trucks on the island, but not many. However, these little golf carts are everywhere. The weather was superb, too. Could not have been any better.The Island is two miles by four miles and you see this Victory Monument from everywhere on the IslandMost of the day was spent just touring in our golf cart and sight seeingThere are quaint little shops everywhere. The place reminded us of Key West and they refer to this as the Key West of the North. There is a main street like Duval Street with only restaurants and bars. You will see our drive-down on the video.

Kalahari Friday Night

Elaine and I went to Sandusky for a few days as summer ends. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn and next door was Kalahari Resort, so we visited there. Great place for families and young children with its water park, water slides, game room, and miniature golf.

There was a rabbit nest in our front yard. Every night, mother rabbit sat on the nest. These two hopped out this evening.

Another Diving Weekend

Boy, summer is going by fast and this is only the second time that I could get out to dive. I went back to Gilboa and here are more photos of my adventure.

First, here was a toolbox on one of the platforms. We opened it and there was nothing in it.

I found Cyril again. Three weeks ago he was in the cockpit of the plane. Now, he was on one of the boats. Little guy gets around. Unfortunately, he is starting to show some wear.

Airports Magazine Article

Ryan, Kristie, and Elizabeth were featured on page 46 and 47 of Airports Magazine. The article dealt with how they are using the social networking technology to enhance the customer service and knowledge of Akron Canton Airport. Congratulations ladies and keep up the good work!

Gilboa Quarry Dive Weekend

I went to Gilboa Quarry Friday afternoon and found a couple of dive buddies there.

This is Candi, who is a Scuba Instructor for a dive shop in Michigan
This is her friend Sue, an attorney in Michigan. I had a nice dive with these two ladies on Friday afternoon. They are vacationing in Africa in eight days and were working on the underwater photography and videography skills.
Some of the underwater sights, which I have showed you before. Here is the Gilboa Gnome, Cyril, again. I saw him walking along the bottom over by the helicoptor and, sure enough, when we went back to the helicoptor, there he was. Little guy sure gets around. Last time I saw him was two years ago, wandering around in the underwater forest area.

Saturday, I dove with John and Laura. John is a Snap-On Tool Salesman in Michigan and Laura is finishing up her Medical Transcription Certification. We made two pleasant dives together.
