Hurricane Gustav Cayman Islands

From what I am reading on the ScubaBoard.com, Grand Cayman appears to be windy, but okay. Little Cayman was hard hit. You can read the messages from Grand Cayman and see pictures of the destruction here:

Off to See the Wizard

Ryan, Brian, Elaine, and I went off to see the Wizard, the wonder Wizard of Oz. The Carousel Dinner Theatre in Akron put on a wonderful singing and dancing production.


The whole production was very energetic and colorful, but I liked the enormous Gatekeeper puppet the best.

Please Pray for My Parents

I went to Pittsburgh to visit them yesterday. This the Golden Living Center in Mt. Lebanon where they are staying. My mother is much improved, thank God, but still very weak. It is hoped that she will go home soon. When she has her strength back, my father will come home, too.

I was encouraged by what I saw. My mother is progressing and the physical therapy is helping my father. The facility is very clean and the staff seems to be caring. Again, I appreciate your prayers for my parents.

Olympics 2008

I found myself watching some of the Olympics. The opening ceremonies were absolutely stunning and dazzling in high definition.

Good Eats Saturday

I watched Good Eats on the Food Network and Alton Brown made protein bars and granola bars. Looked like healthy food to me, so I followed his recipe. Click on the picture for the recipe. They are delicious! Good Eats.

Diving Weekend

I went diving at Portage Quarry in Bowling Green Friday evening and White Star Quarry in Gibsonburg on Saturday. It is always good to dive, but the water temperatures were cold. Someone said they were down ten degrees from last year.

White Star Quarry is an old limestone quarry. Here is one of the structures at the bottom, called the Pit.


There is leftover mining equipment all around, which makes for interesting viewing

Thank You for Your Prayers

I talked to my mother last night and she is recovering from her very serious surgery. She is walking more and starting to eat more. She will be going to the nursing home with my father when she is released from the hospital.

Positive Up-Dates on Mom and Dad

I received a great report about my mom. She :

-sat up for 3 hours
-walked
-had the suctioning tube removed
-ate jello and tea
-requested no pain pills
-understood what happened to her
-knows where dad is
-is giving me orders of request!!! I will visit her tomorrow

Dad:
-is adjusting
-receiving PT, OT
-happy mom is progressing
-being monitored by the nursing staff
-will celebrate his 85th birthday tomorrow

Please Pray for My Mother and Father

My mother took very ill this last week and had serious major surgery. She is still in the hospital in Natrona Heights, Pa. My father needs help and will be staying at a nursing home in Mt. Lebanon, Pa, near my brother. I spent the weekend visiting my mother and staying with my father. My mother is stable today, but it is one day at a time. My father misses her terribly. They have been married 56 years. I appreciate your prayers for my parents. Thank you.
